The Smartphone Symphony
I wanted to seize the endless stream of images flowing on to social media, sensing how much their transformation could reveal something strange and poetic.
A form came to me, a visual and audio experience, designed for 40 phone screens, and arranged on a wall in a darkened room; a flicker of images dancing to a soundtrack, far away from the noisy chaos of internet; a kind of symphony in which the screens would be the instruments.
This is The Smartphone Symphony, a tale of countless love stories through the endless ocean of images; a tale of boys and girls, imitating themselves, locked into narcissism from which they cannot escape; and behind this world of anonymous faces, a tribute, ironic and melancholic, for a dreamland of love and beauty full of vanity and grace.
I hope I have found in this work a way to bring my sensibility to these evanescent pictures: a means of expression across a sea of images.
This installation was presented for the first time in 2026, in China, at the international Chengdu Biennale.
